The AMA's

My students always enjoy discussing the current awards in both movies and music. These complete lists help to glance at, especially if you are not familiar with a specific artist or miss the event entirely.

Great example

This story really inspired me this week. So neat to see such a talented musician have a moment of despair and then feel the leadership of the conductor to get her through the performance

Doing pentatonic again!

I can't help myself.... this video is AMAZING!!! I think I have watched it 20 times already. They are also going on tour this coming spring so look for tickets to support this awesome group.

Great article about how effective technology is if we do not keep up with the changes.

Bicycle built for two-noteflight

Here is my "A Bicycle Built for Two" score created on Noteflight. The program was relatively easy to use, and could easily be incorporated into the classroom.

If we all had iPads

Pentatonix is easily my favorite a cappella group and my students ask to watch them on a daily basis- which is so exciting. Here is there new video, "The Evolution of Beyonce". What a great example of harmonies, styling, and arranging :)

music apps for the classroom and for fun!

Here is a link to a page that has a GREAT list of apps that can be used in the classroom, at home, by students, teachers, and as a class. They aren't all music apps, but even the non-music ones are teacher friendly. Check it out!

Capt. Broccoli explains diatonic triads

So my kids are learning to build triads and about their roman numeral labels for quality. It has been an interesting process, but I love this clip of captain broccoli trying to explain diatonic triads and roman numerals. :) We will be watching this in class for some much needed music theory fun!
